Our AGM
Once quickly behind us, the 55 participants enjoyed a superbly cooked and presented two course lunch which was heavily discounted.
Needless to say, the lunch lasted much longer than the AGM.

A visit to the Brick Lane Music Hall. Originally sited in the old Trumans Brewery in iconic Brick Lane, the Music Hall now occupies a deconsecrated Church in Docklands quite near to London City Airport.
They claim to be the only permanent home for British Music Hall and have been entertaining for 30 years. Artists such as Barbara Windsor, Roy Hudd, Ruby Murray, Alvin Stardust and Danny La Rue have performed there.
The show was to celebrate the 70 years our Queen Elizabeth 11 has been on the throne. During the interval afternoon tea was served and a great time was had by all.
Our trip to Broadstairs.
The extreme heat had abated and we were blessed with a lovely day. Just perfect for strolling along - as we all did.
Our fish and chips were up to scratch, as was the Morellis Ice Cream !
All in all a very pleasant day by the seaside
A visit to Belmont House and Gardens.
We were greeted with refreshments and then taken on a tour of the house with guide Steve. He advised us of the extensive Harris family and their exploits over the centuries. (some of the family sounded quite eccentric) Unfortunately the line died out due to the premature last Lord George's death. Today the house in Kent is run as a private charity and the curator Andria is still finding treasures in the most unusual places.
This house is a mecca for clock lovers as it has a large and unique collection.
A filming of the Antiques Road Show is due to be recorded in the next couple of weeks.
We stopped for a cream tea on the way back which included Jumbo sized scones!
October 2022
A walking trip around Spitalfields and Whitechapel, starting in Folgate St where the Huguenot weavers settled. Then past Sandy's Row Synagogue and on to Brick Lane and through the streets of Whitechapel to the Blind Beggar Pub, London Hospital and the East London Mosque. We also took in Devonshire Square and Petticoat Lane.
Photos:- The heard of 20 bronze elephants in and around Spitalfields are there to raise awareness of poaching and land degredation.
The Truman Brewery in Brick Lane at one time employed approx 2000 people.
The beigel shop in Brick Land is reportedly one of the best.
East London Mosque.
Church Bell Foundry at one time was the oldest manufacturing company in Great Britain, and famous for making the "Liberty Bell" for the USA, and re-casting Big Ben.
Toynbee Hall.
Lastly - our intrepid band of explorers.
November 2022
Our day out in London. By coach to Greenwich and time to ourselves for exploring the market, Maritime Museum, Royal Observatoty etc, etc. Then a 50 minute riverboat cruise to Westminster Pier with fantastic sights of the City by night.
Back on the coach for a tour of the London Christmas Lights and finally a fish and chip supper with hot drink included. All in all a longish day but well worth it.
December 2022
A three course Christmas Lunch with complimentary welcome drink and wine on each table. Our singer Steve was his usual entertaining self and everybody had a relaxed and happy time.
Our last event of the year - planning for 2023 has already stsrted !
